Professional
My first career was in nursing. I qualified as a State Registered Nurse in
1979 and went on to work at Great Ormond Street in London qualifying as a Registered Sick Children`s Nurse in 1982. I then
specialised as a Neonatal Nurse and worked in Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester. Towards the end of my nursing career I
competed my Further Education Teachers Certificate (City & Guilds 730) and taught the neonatal course - Special &
Intensive Care of the Newborn.
Alongside my nursing, I began training as a counsellor
in 1990. My initial training was in Person Centred Counselling. I have worked for a variety of charities in a voluntary capacity
(Childline, Leicester Counselling Centre, Quetzal Project) and for two Employee Assistance Programmes as a telephone counselling.
Since 2001 I have worked for a large public sector organisation where I see clients on an individual basis.
I have a private practise in Earl Shilton, Leicester where I see individual clients and also run a monthly
therapy group.
